Time:
Friday 17.30 -20.00 Iyengar Vinyasa

Iyengar Vinyasa is a progressive, alignment based sequence that includes dynamic transitions in a wide range of poses, including standing poses, backbends, forward bends, inversions, arm balances, and twists. Iyengar Vinyasa classes are best if you are physically active, familiar with the basic yoga postures, and appreciate an invigorating and physically challenging practice. These method of practice is playful and compliments the traditional static holding of the poses for time as is typical in Iyengar Yoga classes as it improves coordination, strengthens the cardiovascular system, general dexterity, which helps to keep us agile well into the zenith of our life. It is suitable for anyone in decent general shape except for students with heart problems and age over 60.

Saturday 12.00 - 14.30 Inversions intensive

Deepen your understanding and practical knowledge of inverted poses such as Pincha Mayurasana, Sirsasana 2 and Sarvangasana series and variations as taught in the Iyengar method. This class will turn your world upside/down in order to explore the dynamics of inverting the body through building a solid foundation from which to move safely, while also looking at counter actions at play in Inversions. Special focus will be finding the equilibrium through self correcting our alignment in each of the inverted poses. A sequence of poses that prepare one for inversion practice will be introduced which will help you build confidence to practice safely with props such as belts, blocks and blankets. Intermediate level.

Saturday 16.00 -18.30 De-mystifying the Twists/ detox.

In this class we will break down and refine the nuances of what makes twisting poses easier and more effective. Twists are challenging due to many factors but mainly due to difficulty of breathing while in it as well as stiffness in the hips and shoulders. There will be some balancing/twists introduced as well such as Parsva Bakasana and many more interesting asanas. Modifications will be offered for all levels.

Sunday 10.00 - 13.00 Backbends / practice with a focus on keeping the spine safe.

In this class we will explore the nature of backbending poses which don’t come easily to most people as these are challenging poses. After appropriate warming asana sequence, we will start from “baby” backbends and from there will progressively build up strength & courage to enable one to go up into Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward Bow) and other related poses. Dropping back will be also shown and taught the Appropriate for intermediate levels.

Workshop with Marios

25-27 april 2025

Marios was inspired early on in his yoga journey by Tricia Booth and Jeanne Maslen, who both encouraged him to take his dedication to Iyengar yoga further and follow the teacher training course at Manchester and District Institute of Iyengar Yoga. As a professional classical musician he found that the concentration, discipline and self-practice needed in music could be applied to yoga in the same way. He qualified in 2002.

He has been a Senior Intermediate Level 3 teacher for several years, and continues to make regular visits to India to study with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Memorial Institute in Pune, and also with Jawahar Bangera and Firooza Ali.

He now divides his time between Hertfordshire and Greece, and combines teaching local classes and yoga therapy with giving workshops all over the UK and Europe. He has also taught in the USA.

You can participate online or in real life in Stockholm. Recordings will be available during one week after the workshop.
